What are the main uses of "вместе"? Is it used exactly the same as "together" is used in English? Is it normal to ask, "Хотите смотрить филм вместе?" or to state, "Мы всё делаем вместе."?

Does anyone have a recommendation for an online Russian news site (in Russian) that has the simplest and clearest writing? I'm not looking for real in-depth analytical writing, but basic stories so I can keep up on Russian news and also improve my vocabulary without getting overwhelmed.

Hello!

Somehow in class, my teacher managed to tell us that the verb скучать means both to be missing someone or something, and to be bored. Unfortunately, she didn't make it very clear how the meaning changes, or what the rules are. I'd hate to say I'm bored with someone, when I mean to say that I miss them. Help?

Thanks ^.^

It occurred to me that diminutives in modern Russian may be used to give a tincture of definiteness or add the meaning of the limited amount to the respective noun. For example you can say:
Дай мне хлебушка и маслица.
This means 'Give me bread [+diminutive] and butter [+diminutive]'
Why not interpret this as 'Give me SOME bread and SOME butther', i.e. not bread in general, but some small amount. The last idea is expressed by the diminutive suffix.
What are your views on this?

I dont know what to call something in russian. It's a little figurine, like a little statue. Well, actually it's a wood carving of a native totem poll, and I am presenting it to my class tomorrow... I just dont know what to call it... статуя?
