Hi! I am living in Saint-Petersburg attending the University where one of my subjects is Russian, of course. Anyways, is there anyone who speaks fluent English who can tutor me in Russian a few times? I would pay, of course! The reason being is that my teachers only speak Russian and there's some technical things and stuff that i just need explained in my own language which they can't help me with. Also, I was out  sick  for a few weeks (bronchitis, ear infection, etc.) so I missed a great deal. Thanks! Reply and I'll send you my email address.

Thanks to all who helped me last time.  I have another word which is used by the God-forsaken woman in the same text as before that isn't in my dictionary.  What does вкуснятина mean?

Hi all,

I seem to remember a site which had photos of various names and brands (McDonalds, Pepsi) in Cyrillic, as part of an alphabet-learning exercise. Does anyone remember where it is?

Thanks!

EDIT: I know how to transliterate--I'm looking for the photos.

can I place the small announcement? Everyone, who want to talk with me (by e-mail, or ICQ), please send me a message. I just search foreign friends to communicate with them on different subjects. I am from Russia, my English is bad, but russian language is my native language, and I can help somebody to practise russian language. Send me PM, or write a comment ;) Thank you!

Dear Community,

Could you please help me resolve an issue?

I've often seen native Russian speakers begin a sentence with:

"НавернОЕ......." (an adjective, equivalent to English "probable").

However, to me it seems logical that instead the sentence should be started with "Наверно" (an adverb, equivalent to English "probably").

Here's an example:

1. "НавернОЕ мой журнал для англоговорящих выглядит также как...."

2. "НавернО мой журнал для англоговорящих выглядит также как..."

Which is correct? 1. above? 2. above? Or both? Please provide brief explanation for your choice, if possible.

Thank you in advance for your input.

Best regards,

ФБ

Edit: The riddle has been solved. Thank you to everyone who helped determine the "probable cause" - "вероятная причина" for the lack of clarity.
