I am one of teachers of this school. Narva is a small city in territory of the European Union (the most of population is native russian speakers) and in 0.5 kilometers from russian border. Duration of acquisition - 10 days, price - $300 (for students - on 25% cheaper).
I hope, the information will be useful.

Hi Everyone!
I have watched this community for a while now and have learned great lessons from all! Thank you!

I am coming to this community now looking for someone who is fluent in Russian and English. I am trying to make a fansub of a Russian film based on the Romanov saga. Unfortunately I don't speak enough Russian to know what they are saying. I can pick things out here and there... but I'm digressing.

If anyone is willing to help me out with subtitling a movie, drop me a comment. I will be forever in your debt, and full credit will be given!

Thank you everyone for your time and patience!
Warmest Regards,
Laura Mabee

An interesting test for non-native Russian speakers who want to check their knowledge of Russian everyday cultural context and for the Russians who want to make fun of alternative replies :)
Test is a joke, but only by half, like every joke

I'm trying to decide where I should go next summer for language study in Russia, and I have it more or less narrowed down to the Smolny program (which I have already done) and the CIE program in Moscow.  I'm already familiar with the Smolny program, so if anyone has done CIE, I'd love to hear their thoughts.  I want to be in Moscow, but I may end up going back to St. Petersburg just to save money.

Also, a question completely unrelated to language study.... I will be coming to Russia from Czech Republic (I'm doing a two-month internship there before I go to Russia).  Is this going to affect my visa arrangements?  Can I still apply for my visa in Canada before I go to Prague, or would I have to do it there?

I came across this in my readings: "As Lenin promised, we will make toilets of pure gold . . . " (Abram Tertz "On Socialist Realism)

what is he referring to
and how does it sound in Russian

thank you
t.

UPD the mystery is solved
full quote from Lenin inside
also "ЗОЛОТОЙ УНИТАЗ" (gold toilet) is now a phrase that denotes meaningless luxury (from [livejournal.com profile] alamar)
