I have a quick question about the word "молодежь" - lingvo.yandex.ru gives the definition as "youth, young people". Does this mean that it's only a collective noun referring to youth as a whole, or can it also be applied to a single youth, like the English word "youth" can be?

i am unable to write in cyrillic on livejournal, though it is possible on yandex and myspace. i don't know why. for this reason i have to write the word i have a question about in latin....fishka....my belarussian friend said it and wasn't able to give me an example. does anyone know the meaning of this slang word? or any other useful slang words?

I'm beginning to notice that sometimes Russians like to use English letters sprinkled here and there in names. "Zемфира," "Fилтер" (can't verify that one, but I distinctly remember seeing it), and "Веk," immediately come to mind. I was just wondering, are many Russians familiar to some extent with the English alphabet? Whether or not they actually study the language? I'm also thinking about web addresses, and how I've yet to see one written in Cyrillic. Thoughts? Wisdom? Am I missing the obvious?

Finally got a Russian Learn-By-CD program, and it raised a few questions (before I actually have listened to the CDs).

I always assumed that ть was pronounced like English th... but is it, or is it just an aspirated t?
