One more question:
What is the difference between the neutrum чучело and the feminine чучела? In the book Спать и верить - блокадный роман by Андрей Тургенев the word чучела is used (моя чучела, твою чучелу). Why?

I think it's a "family word." I mean, it can only exist within a small circle of friends or relatives.

I don't have the book here, but from my memory:
Если бы ты, Маратик, покончил бы собой самоубийством, в последней комнате могла бы быть твоя чучела - самая большая!
Then Kirov repeats to him self Stalins bad joke. maybe Stalin made a grammatical misstake because i is georgian, and Kirov just repeated the misstake when he quoted knowing it is negramotno to speak like that?

(There are always funny stories of how Georgian teachers tell their pupils while teaching Russian that "this word is feminine gender, and that one masculine, and don't ask me why, it's just illogical like that".)

An example of soviet-time's joke: a teacher of Russian in a Georgian school speaks to children:

- Дэти, в русском языке слова "сол" и "фасол" надо гаварит с мьягкым знаком, а "вилька" и "тарелька" - без мягкого знака. (* Дети, в русском языке слова "соль" и "фасоль" надо говорить с мягким знаком, а "вилка" и "тарелка" - без мягкого знака. *)

I think it is sort of the same as when in English 'he' or 'she' is used when speaking about inanimate objects or animals. Here we change the form to better fit the gender of the person of whom we speak.

I would guess the 'чучела' was used as a term of endearment in the book? Then it's also for the word not to be an insult.

There's another one like that, I heard people use "солнц" instead of "солнце" when speaking of a guy (well, girl as well :) ).

ЧУЧЕЛА is a nickname, a joke, this word does not exist in Russian dictionaries. Generally, playing with genders in Russian can mark an affectionate speech, a sweet talk. "Ты мой хороший" - this can be addressed to a female by her lover, it is somehow much warmer than "моя хорошая". "Мой заяц" is more intimate than "моя зайка". Similarly, my girlfriend can address me in neutral gender to emphasize what a selfish animal I am.

No idea why Stalin and Kirov would talk like that, though.

Could be a mistake, but could also be some obsolete form. I could name quite a few words (like постеля, лебедь, ресторация,) which changed their form or gender after some years.

It's a mistake, I guess, but an intentional one. Writers sometimes like to do so. Also, it could have come from a dialect. By the way, Stalin wasn't an educated person actually.

Sometimes we just change the ending of the word to make it "more feminine". For example, солнце. It's neutrum. But you can say to your girlfriend "моя солнца". Of course, this word doesn't exist, but it's your own funny word. ) And it sounds more tender than "моё солнце".
Another example is директриса. There's another word директор. But you can say директрис, it'll be strange and ridiculous. Also children sometimes make new words using this method.
