I've been trying to find a Russian expression with the same meaning as "swallow your pride". When I try to use online translators I keep coming up with things that are closer to "eat crow" than what I'm looking for.

Translating the words more directly I get this: проглотить гордость свою

Is that a phrase which would ever be seen in Russian?
Is it ordered correctly?

Do you know of a more appropriate way I could say "swallow your pride" in Russian?
I really want the concept of "swallowing" to be existent in the Russian version.

Thanks!

"Просто сделай это" — sounds VERY English in Russian ;-)

Native speakers do say it nowadays.

Many native speakers (in any language) say A LOT of things incorrectly. "Просто сделай это" is a horrible calque from English.

The one and only criteria of correctness here is whether these “things” are spoken by native speakers.

If native speakers speak things, the things are spoken correctly.

That’s what the concept of native speaking stands for, and that’s because the Russian (or, for example, English) language is by definition the language spoken by Russian (English) people – not, let me make it clear, what is written down in dictionaries or anything.

Some people say "мы хочем" or "более лучше". This is not a norm and should not be taught to language learners as such.

And, even worse, some people say “я”, which is total nonsense because we know that the norm is and always was “аз”.

If this was an attempt to joke, it was not funny.
