This idiom doesn't exist in Russian so you can't translate it word by word. Better use yulia's phrases.

There is another idiom that is used when you are not satisfied with the way things happen: "Так дело не пойдет". You normally say it when you want to do something about it but it's not really suitable if you just want to break up.

I personally don't need to learn Russian swear words as I know them myself. If somebody else wants to learn it, you should better contact people who run this community and ask if this is acceptable.

The other day, someone asked me to say an insult in Russian. At a loss for a commonly used one, I said (pretty much) the equivalent to "Your father painted stripes on straws and your mother was an ugly fish!"

Yeah, I'm not even good at insults in English, leave me alone! :)

I dont think this an option because it would bring up hundreds of questions from the person u've addressed this phrase to that you dont want to answer ;-)

A couple of other options for your consideration (not exact translation, rather colloquial slang:

Нифига у нас не получится...
Вообще-то дело не в тебе, а во мне...
Прощай, наша встреча была ошибкой! (a classic quote from one of the famous cartoons)
Братан, обломись... или Тетка, обломись...
