Do you know any livejournals of foreigners in Russian language? Recommend, please. Thank you.

While I was in Russia, I noticed that sometimes my host mother sometimes used the genitive case when addressing my host brother or host sister (for example: Kati! instead of Katya or Marata! instead of Marat). Does that sort of address have a different connotation than simply saying "Katya!" or "Marat!"? I suspect it may have been something very obvious that I was oblivious to.

A dear friend of mine sent me a textbook & workbook for Golosa: A Basic Course in Russian (1994 edition). I'm wondering if anyone might know if there are audio files out there, so I can listen to the stuff as well? I've found some for the 3rd & 4th editions, but I'm (not exactly unsurprised) to see there's little/nothing for the '94 edition, which I think is the first. Some of the audio from the 3rd E matches up, but I'm not sure all of it does.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as I'm starting to see Russian on the side (don't tell Mandarin!) after a 7-year absence.
