Speaking of etymology, I was wondering how сегодня got to be. I was saying it to myself, and noticed that it can be split into с его дня, so I'm guessing it has to deal something with the Russian Orthodox Church and something about His day. Or am I stretching it?

I have some selected exercises I wish to post (since I'm class-less) and wanted to know if it's ok to post them for some help.

As for the topic now, time confuses me. I am now ok with the whole "пятнадцать минут/четверть второго" thing of what hour we are in right now, but there's this exercise that states in some cases to translate "6:45" and "16:40" and "8:20 PM" and "5:14 AM." For the first two, I'm guessing it's just normal "без четверти семь" and "сорок минут шестнадцатого" and I'm guessing they want me to use ночи, вечера, днём, и утра for the last two. How would one go about it though? "Двадцать минут восьмого вечера?" "Четырнадцать минут пятого ночи?" It doesn't sound right...

How would I say "What are you doing this week?"

This is an extremely random question... I was making fun of Paris Hilton with my friend the other day, and somehow it got back to Russian lol. We had been trying to say "That's hot" in a bunch of different langauges, and when it came to Russian I was clueless lol.

This question actually has two parts:

1) Would you use то or это in this case? The first is probably more correct, but the latter is used a lot more often. Which would you imagine her using, were she to say it in Russian?

2) Which version of hot should be used in this case? I don't know if I should say жаркий or горячий. More so, should I even use one of those words? What would be the Russian equivelent of saying "She's hot!", meaning very attractive?

Like I said, extremely random question... but thanks to anyone that helps me out!

By the way, today is День славянской письменности и культуры (the Day of Slavic literature and culture, the best translation I can think of). Today Russian Christian Orthodox Church honours the memory of creators of Cyrillic alphabet, Cyril and Methodius.
A couple of links:
History of Cyrillic alphabet [Eng]
Mentioning of this date, the best I could find [Rus]

I think (and hope) that someone can develop this subject better. Sorry if it is off-topic.

(And I apologize for my clumsy English)
