Why are greetings and generic wishes in the genetive case? Ex: Счастливого пути, спокойной ночи, (forgot the word) аппетита, и т.д.

Hey Everyone!

So I have forgotten most of my Russian and am hoping this community will help me get back up to speed.. In the meantime, can anyone help me with the most commonly used Russian for "Bravo!" or "Encore!"? I know it seems an odd request, but I am dressing as a Tsar for a fancy dinenr theatre tomorrow which has many Russian acrobats performing and would like to be able to add those phrases to my vocab before then! :) Thanks in advance...

Conjugation

I was wondering if Russian verb conjugation is anything like French or Spanish.

In French, to conjugation *most* verbs you change the ending of the "to be" form. Here's an example:

parler (to speak)

je (I) parl + e = parle
tu (informal you) parl + es = parles
il/elle (he, she) parl + e = parle
nous (we) parl + ons = parlons
vous (formal you) parl + ez = parlez
ils/elles (they) parl + ent = parlent

Basically, does Russian have a conjugation rule?

I myself am russian and i have to do an assignment on 19th century russia (1800-1917) and was wondering if anyone knew of anything about the cultural aspects..
i have
+ matroshki
+ hahlama (sp?)
+ camavar

is there anything else i could possibly bring in to show to the class which might reflect that time period?
how people dressed?
