There's an expression that goes something like "вести себя как полки в банке" or something like that which means "to behave like fools/idiots." How does the actual saying go? I know I'm saying it wrong.

I believe you mean "как пауки в банке" - it means to be fighting constantly, backstabbing, etc. Comes from the idea that if you put several spiders in a jar, very soon there will be one one spider remaining, as they kill each other off (and eat each other, too).

Я имел в виду "полОк", а не "полку".
"ПолОк" - эта деревянная лестница с очень широкими ступеньками в парилке, что-на них сидят когда парятся. Я вырос в деревне, вероятно у городских жителей нет таких ассоциаций.

I swear the way he says пауки sounds like поулки or something.

"Пауки в банке" doesn't mean "to behave like fools/idiots". Reality shows are the best illustration of this expression.
