I understand the words and yet the meaning escapes me.

"Is still would like so-so about understanding of revelations, but..." You know, it's a really clumsy phrase even for native speaker, and I'd call it one of those cases when the author apparently tries to look smather than he is, but fails. So he then have to cover by the use of heavy and cumbersome syntax to hide the lack of a real sense in the sentence.

I agree, "смотрелось *** в восприятии откровений" sounds insane to me. Maybe if we saw the whole context, though...

Oooohhh...
Well, the idea is that the journalist didn't say something the speaker considers important, because she is not smart enough or simply doesn't relize what's going on.

I would say it's a 'polite' way to say someone is stupid.

на уровне "ничего-себе" - colloquialism - at "so-so" level
смотрелось... в восприятии - really clumsy Russian, makes no sense (so don't feel bad about not understanding it).

Here's a stab at a free translation.
One could absorb her revelations with nothing more than a "look at that" attitude, but her last paragraph forces one to take a stand and tell the journalist what she, whether due to her (low) cultural level or the way she was brought up, doesn't want to, can't or is incapable of understanding.
