So I'm translating Blok's "Слабеет жизни гул упорный..." ("The persistent rumble weakens lives"?) and I'm stuck on these two lines:
Быть может, венецейской девы
Канцоной нежной слух пленя

Is пленя related to плен or плены?

Пленя = пленив = having captured

This is a past verbal adverb of пленить (perf.). By the way:

Пленяя = capturing

This is a present verbal adverb of пленять (imp.).

I would say "beguile" would be a more adequate translation in this particular case. Grammatically speaking, "пленя" is more like a past participle, "having captured/beguiled."
