Привет всем!

I just graduated with my BA in Russian language, and am in the process of the Fulbright Process and need a way to keep up my language skills so that I don't hit Moscow "cold" as it were. You all seem like a fabulous group and I look forward to learning Russian with you. :)

А не подскажешь ли, что за оборот такой:

[livejournal.com profile] ru_learnenglish seems to be more appropriate for this. Again, I woild love to remind that this community's working language is English, and it is for those who Learn Russian, not the opposite :))

I apologise.

In fact, the explanation of some English expressions and finding their equivalents in Russian may prove useful for learners of Russian.

And why not to permit using Russian in this community? It's good for practice (see for example the previous message). Usually such forums are bilingual.

I think that he understands that it is useful for the learning of Russian to practice in writing Russian. :)

Да, и читать по-русски тоже очень полезно для изучения русского. :-)

Если я правильно тебя понял, говорят "I am cold with smth", если чувствуют себя неуверенно с этим smth? Или "I hit cold with smth"?

Могу исправить пару твоих ошибочек в русском, если хочешь.

As far as I understand, written EXAMPLES in Russian are more than welcome here and really useful.
The full-stage COMMUNICATION in Russian is more appropriate in other places, though. Do not forget that the majority of those people here who study Russian (i.e. are no native speakers, like you or like me,) are in a very early stage of study. The puropse of this community, as far as I understand it, is to help those who learn Russian, and not to overwhelm them with the fact how difficult this language can really be :))
There is plenty of other places (even here in LJ) where one can communicate in Russian, anyway. Here, we just help the beginners with this "великий, могучий, правдивый и свободный русский язык" (c) Ivan Turgenev 8--))))

Hi, I noticed that you just graduated from U Oklahoma. Is it the one in Norman? Last semester in Saint Petersburg, I studied at the same institute as students from University of Oklahoma. Maybe you know them?

Ciao,
Jenna

Maybe Nevsky was the shit when you went, but the adminstration was awful, classes were poorly planned, so was the tutoring sessions that were required for the courses. I didn't experience this myself, because we had a slightly different program mediated by professors from my school, Bates College... But my lunch hours were spent with U of O kids who would bitch because their class schedules changed randomly, russian tutoring would change times, Nevsky was slow in adminstrational bureaucracy (like getting visas)...

Eventually, some of them stopped going to their classes, doing their work and spent days hung over from the night before. Heh. I spent lots of time with Adrienne and Justin. I also talked to Heather, Ryan (is that his name, really tall, 23 yrs, looks totally southern-midwestern?), and other people who's names I can't recall.

I saw photos of Russian plays that were put on. Justin was the bear in one of them.

I'd be glad to help. I live in Moscow. Also, I'd like to have an old-fashioned "pen-pal" to brush up my written English. My LJ is in Russian (well, I'm thinking about doing one in English too, but I have no time...). You are welcome to read and comment it.

Hey, our pleasure :) The fact that I looked quite strict a maintainer should not ovreshadow the fact that I am quite open as well, so you could also read and comment my ЖЖ ... though it's a quite special one, regading the fact that I am (aside of being very modest! ;-))) not your average Russian :))

I'll add you to my friends in LJ, and you can do the same with me. I don't know if my LJ postings will be interesting to you, but feel free to ask if you don't understand the context or anything. I've a latent tendency to teach (though I don't like teacning as a full time occupation), so it'll be fun. Also you may reach me by e-mail. I have an account on "yandex.ru" and my login is the same as my ljuser name, so it's easy to guess my e-mail adress. (I don't give it here because I'm afraid of spammers :((((. Anybody interested may write me as well - just announce your good intentions in the subject line of the message, please! * wary of mysterious mail*
