I'm using Windows XP. I have Russian support installed, so I can type Cyrillic into text programs with no problem. However, it doesn't work in Adobe Photoshop, which I use to edit images.

(For the record, I haven't tried anything yet, since I have no clue where to start.)

Do I need to turn on Unicode support for non-Unicode programs? I will if I have to, but I'd rather not, since it interferes with WinAmp.

Any suggestions?

Photoshop sucks. Russian in standard Unicode fonts will work only if you replace the 1252 (Western) codepage definition with the 1251 (Cyrillic) one as required by the link above. This is a dirty system-wide hack, and I don't recommend it since you will lose all Western accented characters in all non-Unicode programs.
The only suitable way is to install some hacked fonts for Photoshop usage (in case of TrueType, they must have Cyrillic characters both in Cyrillic and Latin-1 ranges. I don't remember Type 1 requirements, sorry).

I use Photoshop 7. And i don't have such problem. Simply use internationalised fonts.
