Hello all,
My name is Jenia. I'm a native Russian speaker with a degree in English living in the US now.

I'm starting to teach Russian this week (just one adult student who wants to have conversational Russian) and would love to hear ANY ideas for websites. topics, texts, audio files and what not that could be of help.

Чем отличается действительность от реальности?
В немецком (и в английском) эти слова переводятся одним словом.
Как филолог я не верю в полные синонимы ;).

What is the diffrence between "deistvitelnost" and "realnost"?
In German they are both translatet as "Wirklichkeit".
Being a linguist I don't believe that complete synonyms exist ;)

My russian is rusty! But I have a question.

Well I was eating dinner with some classmates, a russian girl, well actually ukranian but she speaks russian, and her adoptive parents. Her father mentioned that when he says "Да" she says "обла да" to him. He has no clue as to what it means and she can't translate the meaning into english. He even mentioned that at a slumber party with her friends when she said that, the other girls (they're all adopted too) would giggle. What does it mean??
