«пол на полу» - the meaning revealed!

A long time ago I asked this question here because my teacher wanted us to find out. I never asked her about it but she brought it up again the other day and implied that it literally meant "sex on the floor", while laughing hysterically. I cringed.

Now I'm reading "Кошка и люди" and have a question about this sentence:

Вскоре стал, конечно, угар по комнате проноситься.

Maybe it's obvious and I'll feel stupid for asking ... but why is this in the infinitive?

I'm assuming that it's the fumes that are moving around the room because of the way the sentence is constructed, but if that was the case I'd expect it to be in the past or present tense, not in the infinitive.

Edit: Thank you! I understand it now. For some reason I thought "стал" was referring to one of the characters suddenly standing up, but it makes complete sense if it's not. :P

so i have been translating some jokes and i have a few questions:

I understand this to mean "I have sluggish hips." Is this a common way of saying, "I'm tired?" is there any connotations to this phrase?

My question here is about the "?!" is this a missprint? If not would it mean dubious, like in chess, or is that just wishful thinking?

also what does "Пчеловечность" mean?
I assume it has something to do with bees, but it isn't in my dictionary and i cant find a definition online.
