I've started dropping random pronouns from my papers in English. I've caught myself writing way too many sentances using passive voice. Ok in Russian... In English, to quote Jon Stewart... Not so much.

Has this happened to anyone else?

For those who miss the genuine sound of real Russian speech :), there are radio stations streaming over the Web. Try Эхо Москвы since it's more a news/talk station, so they speak there a lot: live; news-on-demand. The later is more useful because it's news which you can read along with the listening.

In live section, there are streams for Winamp and for Windows Media Player. Latest news section has only a Winamp stream.
They also claimed that it was playable by Real Player, but I haven't tested it.

in my cable company we have a channel called the international channel..its a different channel for everyone (here its number 500) and at 5 theres a show called vremya (forgive me--dont feel like posting cyrillic haha im lazy) and at 5:30 some russian show with this real scary fat guy with blonde hair..about shoulder length lmfao..hes kinda scary looking ..i forget his name..if you dont understand it..you can just listen to it and see what words you can pick up! just a little help =)

I've never been entirely certain when to use the word 'же' or what exactly it means. I know it's used for emphasis, but where does it normally go in a sentence and in what context is it used?

Please note that in the English language you say "a medicine for headache" while in Russian the preposition is от - "Лекарство от головной боли".  If you say by mistake "Лекарство для головной боли", your Russian counterpart will understand it like "A medicine to produce headache". But it's OK to say "Лекарство для лечения чего-либо" or "Лекарство против чего-либо"
