Cooking vocab

I am teaching a lesson on Russian cuisine and giving some basic cooking vocabulary. Are all of these correct? Also, is there anything else really basic that I am forgetting (I'm sure there is)?

готовить – cook

варить - boil 

жарить - fry

выпекать - bake

добавить - add

перемешивать - stir

I would use the imperfective form for добавить (which is добавлять) for consistency, but overall all of those are correct.

I was taught that 'cook' means make food using fire. 'Готовить' is more general. You can 'готовить' a salad by cutting vegetables.

запекать - roast
нарезать - chop or slice
взбивать - whip
смешивать - mix
солить - salt
перчить - pepper
мариновать - marinate

Stir is actually more помешивать than перемешивать.

Варить also - simmer and poach.
Пошировать - poach, but only in case of poached eggs.
Бланшировать - blanch
Обжарить - sear
Пассеровать - sweat
A bunch of sentencis with "готовить":
Готовить на пару - steam
Готовить на гриле - grill
Готовить под грилем - broil
Готовить во фритюре - deep-fry
also imho there is no good translations of verbs braise and saute
