Thanks for the help with yesterday's post! I was inspired to attempt to write something a bit longer today. Here's what I was *trying* to write:

I am so happy today! And the reason is not only because there are so few people at work today... I am happy because today is Friday. I am happy because I ran a lot this week: 4 miles on Sunday, and then on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 2 miles each day. (And the last three times I have run with my dog Fiona! She loves to run and she no longer bites me when we run together!)

Yesterday I made plans to meet a former colleague at the zoo. My former colleague is from Ukraine and he's a grad student in my town. His wife and son are still in Ukraine, but his 6-year old daughter is here with him. Well, tomorrow he has something to do at the zoo, where he has to survey people visiting the zoo... And when he told me that his daughter would have to wait there in front of the zoo (but they wouldn't go in!) and she'd have nothing to do, I suggested that she and I visit the zoo together. My colleague's daughter's name is Lesya and she has lived in the U.S. for 6 months. We have met only once, in September, and then she didn't speak English. She knows Russian very well, even for a little Ukrainian. And of course, after 6 months, she speaks some English. Our visit to the zoo will be interesting I'm sure.

Я так рада сегодня! И причина не только что сегодня очень мало людей на работе... Я рада поэтому сегодня пятница. Я рада поэтому я много бегала на этой неделе: во воскресенье 4 мил, во вторнике, в среду и вчера 2 мил каждый раз. (И на последние три раза я бегала со собакой Фиона! Ей очень любит бегать и она не больше меня кусается когда бегаем вместе!)

Завтра я собиралась встретиться с одном бывшим коллегам в зоопарке. Мой бывший коллег с Украины и он аспирант в моим городе. Его жена и синь ещё на Украине, а его 6-летная дочь здесь с ними. Но, завтра у него что-нибудь дело в зоопарке, в котором ему надо проводить опрос с людми, которые зоопарке посетят... Но, когда он сказал что его дочечке надо ждать там и у ней не будет ничего делать, я предложила что я с ней посетили бы зоопарке вместе. Её зовут Леся и она живёт в Америке 6 месяца. Мы встретились только раз, в сентябре, и тогда она не могла говорить английски язык. Леся хорошо знает русский, хотя она маленькая украинка. И конечно, после 6 месяца, она говорит немножко английски. Наш визит в зоопарк должен быть интересный.

There are rules that govern the punctuation in this particular case. You cannot put commas all over the place just because you want to. If you don't believe me, read Rosenthal.

Yes, I don't believe you. And is reading Rosenthal (http://www.evartist.narod.ru/text1/49.htm) a punishment game for challenging your claims? :) Since I don't find anything proving me wrong, I'm left to think things like that.

I think I was very clear. Rosenthal's book contains the rules that govern punctuation in this case, as well as in many others. In case you don't know, this book is deemed a standard for Russian punctuation (and many other things related to Russian language).

As to the link you gave me, it says exactly what I said before:

"К условиям расчленения сложного союза относятся:" meaning that there are certain conditions upon which it is allowed to split a compound сonjunction (putting a comma inside it). Then these conditions are listed. One of them is the contraposition I mentioned above.

Now you're confining things, weaving a cage by an unwarranted interpretation of the logical constructions provided.

Next, on your way of thinking, depicted with your words: "К условиям расчленения сложного союза относятся:" meaning that there are certain conditions upon which it is allowed to split a compound сonjunction (putting a comma inside it)."

You assumed for no reason that the list is compulsory, exclusive and complete.
What that part really was is elaborating, giving examples and restrictions for the general rule provided above. A paragraph preceeding the one you cited gave the conditions for the opposite case — the case when you're unlikely to find cases of splitting the conjunction. If the list was that of the only acceptable possibilities, surely they would make that stated with clarity of entirely different degree.
Compare "К условиям расчленения сложного союза относятся" with numerous slightly different options of wording things out. One doesn't expect the formulation to be loose in the codex of Russian. I do not think they chose the words lightly.
