Since I'm kind of new here, I have a couple questions:
1. It seems the only time I have menu options for "bold", or "italics", or inserting "links" is when a NEW post is made. Whenever I respond to a post in an existing thread, those options do not exist.
2. Sometimes I make a typographical error in a post and I want to go back and fix it. The only time the option to "edit" is offered is on the first post that initiates a thread. But responses within the thread seem to be uneditable.
Am I missing something?
Thanks!

There are also specific LJ tags; for example, if you wanted to make a link to the community default page, you would not type < a href="http://www.livejournal.com/community/learn_russian/" >LINK< /a >, but rather just use the < lj-comm="learn_russian" > tag.
