[identity profile] bambino-lives.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] learn_russian
Hello ... I just joined this community. I'm also pretty early on in my Russian studies and wondering if you all could help me with a translation.

I want to post this in Russian on my profiles on a couple social networking-type sites:
"If you are from Russia or speak Russian, say hello to me because I don't have much chance to speak the language and would like the opportunity."

Can anyone translate that into Russian for me? Any help greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Your phrase is
Если вы из России или говорите по-русски, скажите мне привет, поскольку у меня не так много возможностей говорить на этом языке, и я буду рад каждой.

It sounds a bit academic for a social-networking site, as your English phrase does (to my mind).

I'd say your translation sounds strained, forced. The original message seems to be more natural.

My translation would be the following. Если вы живете в России или говорите по-русски, я буду рад любой возможности пообщаться с вами. Пишите.

Hello!
Don't worry, I think your preposition is quite casual and "frendly", the problem is only in translation difficulties.

"Если вы из России или говорите по-русски, скажите мне "привет"!Я буду рад каждой возможности поговорить на этом языке"

In my opinion this variant is more casual. It will be translated like: "If you are from Russia or speak Russian, say hello to me. I will be glad to have an opportunity to speak the language"

Well, if you really wanna write (communicate) in russian, why didn't you try to translate yourself?

Just interesting...

Or better yet, post in English and Russian, to attract bilingual speakers.
