Remoe the second мы in the first sentence - it is redundant.

на различных носителях is not exactly what [livejournal.com profile] wolfie18 trying to say. Носитель can be stationary and weigh 20 or 50 kilos, and [livejournal.com profile] wolfie18 wanted to say portable, which is not the same thing at all.

1) yes, you're right, mea culpa
2) носитель usually means a tape or a disk but not the machine which plays it. Frankly speaking I can't guess what he exactly meant by this в наших руках. I understood he meant smth portable but what?..

Well, he mentions iPod. Could be also any type of portable cassette or CD player. The main idea is, I guess, that you can have music whenever and wherever you want it, instead of going to a special place at an appointed time to hear people playing and singing.

P.S. A media can be something like a computer tape to play which you need a bulky machine, not at all portable.

But I suppose you know such old computers are not used nowadays anymore, and I'd suggest a flash-player or a CD-player as a means of listening to the music as they are modern and widespread. As well as iPod. Since we're speaking about modern time...

Are you kidding? Tape media and tape libraries are very much in use. Not for home PCs, of course, but for data centers and data storage systems.

P.S. and why are we discussing the type of players? it is not at all relevant for [livejournal.com profile] wolfie18's post. I think that "держать музыку в руках" is a clear and nicely put image that does not require any improvements, even less - replacing with a device name.

also "Если мы ...

Well may be it's a bulky and long sentence but it sounds correct to me. And you know some people use even longer ones, JRRT for example :)
But your variant sounds lighter, yes. It's more beautiful.
