фабрика звёзд (Star Factory)
Aug. 14th, 2007 08:48 pmSo I've been going on a фабрика звёзд binge, and I tried to explain it to a friend; it's not just American Idol. I feel there's a hint of Real World mixed up in there too (or maybe it would be better to say like... next top model or charm school where they live together and get lessons too...?)
Anyways, I really like these two group songs, basically the same
Круто тут у вас на ТВ
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qfaYW5IroB8&mode=related&search=
and
Круто ты попал на ТВ
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=et4gSfqDlNk&mode=related&search=
Both titles in my head translate to..
Cool is (what) here you have on TV, or in better English
(What) you have on TV here is cool. any other options?
Also, I'm looking for Russian lyrics to this song, so I can decipher them. If you also have the English, it'd be cool to compare what I can translate with what it should be.
Thanks for your help! Спасибо за помощд!

Date: 2007-08-15 01:09 am (UTC)"Круто ты попал на ТВ" is a play of words. "Круто ты попал" is slang for "You got yourself into a lot of trouble", or in short "You're screwed".
"Попал на ТВ", of course, means "got on TV". And it changes the meaning of the first part to "It's cool that you got on TV"

Между прочим, не будет ли ошибкой сделать конструкцию "You're screwed into", поиграв со значением "screw in" - ввинтиться?

I believe it's because of their stupid intonation that people started joking about "you're **cking hard screwed with this TV" meaning.
Nowadays "singers" rarely do pauses where they should be and generally incorrectly intonate the text.
As to the song, I must say that as far as I know, each new set of "полуфабрикатов" sings their unique version of the same song (the music is preserved, the text is changed). I know at least one more version: "Синие моря, острова..." (the same music as in "Круто, ты попал на TV").
P.S. It's a pity that you take the word "попал" only in the slang meaning ("to get into trouble") and forget the original meaning of "попадать" = "to get to/into".
