please tell me, how would you express this in informal speech...

i will let you know, if i do go.

that is, the subject of me going is already under discussion, but it is not certain that i will, and i wish to reassure the person that if i do go, i will let them know.

i assume it will be done with a modal particle of some sort such as уж, то, etc. but i'd like to know how you native speakers might express that, and indeed if you would just say я дам тебе знать, если поеду.

How natural does the phrase "я дам тебе знать" sound? Is this something people often say to each other?

Pretty often, yes. It sounds OK.

Если я поЕду, я дам тебе знать.
If you speak to someone, it would be quite natural to build the phrase as it is written above, stressing the empathized letter more than usually.

There is a special informal word for such cases: таки.
Я тебе дам знать, если я таки поеду.

Completely up to you, of course, but I would not use it that way.

Yes it is, but that doesn’t sound very natural. If I used таки, I would say it like this: Если я таки поеду, я дам тебе знать.

Also notice дам before тебе, this adds a little more confidence :-)

But in reality I think I would say: “Я тебе обязательно скажу, если действИтельно соберусь ехать”. No need to save on words :-)

Depends on location. :) In Odessa it's pretty normal Russian. :) But it should be said with a specific accent, you know. :) Like "И шо, ви таки хотите знать, поеду ли я? Таки да!" :)
