Привет всем, вот и я сюда попал!

Чем я интересуюсь? Хороший вопрос; следующий вопрос! Маленькая шутка!

На самом деле, я интересуюсь русским языком.

Почему? Потому! Серьёзно - причины есть многие. До того как я начал изучать русский язык, мне было очень скучно. Работа была неинтересной и я хотел сделать что то новое.

Хорошая знакомая предложила, чтобы мы вместе занимались русским языком. Итак, через три месяца она бросила изучение русского языка и я продолжал. Это было некоторое время назад.

С тех пор я постоянно развиваюсь свою любовь к русскому языку!

Almost perfect; there are some small style flaws but to my mind they just add charm.
A few corrections:

Итак, через три месяца она бросила изучение русского языка,[note the comma] А я продолжал.
(when the first part of the sentence is opposed to the second, use "a", e.g. Мой друг сейчас в отпуске, а я работаю: my friend is on vacation now, and I am working)

С тех пор я постоянно развиваюсь свою любовь к русскому языку!
1. You cannot say "развиваюсь любовь" - развиваюсь is first person, therefore it is about you and not about любовь. Я развиваюсь - I am developing, this cannot have any object attached to it. Я развиваю (что-то) - I am developing (something), this requires an object.

2. You could say развиваю любовь but this does not sound very good... possibly "я развиваю свой русский язык" or, better, совершенствую свой русский язык.

Naturally, the use of the reflexive here was totally off base.

Is it the case that in Russian it sounds strange that someone should "develop love" (or passion) for some subject, some task? In English, a good captain is supposed to "love" his ship, for example.

I would say that the closest Russian equivalent for "I developed love for ..." would be "я полюбил(а) ..." - possibly because of a difference in mentality, the English phrase sounds like I am an actor here (I develop), and Russian phrase rather assumes that love is something that HAPPENS to you, not something you DO.

I see your point. However, I'm not too sure that the English term "to develop" has the strictly active connotation you apparently associate with it. As it relates to "personal development", "to develop" also has the connotation of undergoing a process of internal transformation in response to various stimuli and processes, external and internal.

Evidently, the Russian "развивать" does not transport this nuance. So, I'll just drop it in this context. Thanks again.

Really not bad, but...
"причины есть многие" is wrong form, right choise is "есть много причин" or "причины есть, их много"
"предложила, чтобы мы вместе занимались русским языком" is correct but better form would be "предложила вместе заниматься русским языком"
"я постоянно развиваюсь свою любовь к русскому языку" is awfull, correct would be "я постоянно развиваю свою любовь к русскому языку" or with a bit different meaning "я постоянно развиваюсь в плане любви к русскому языку"

I'm not sure about your very first phrase: "вот и я сюда попал!" It sounds like "Well, me too, I've ended up here". I think you meant "I'm finally here", right? So you change the word order and the words, too:

Вот я и здесь!
And then,
ОДНА моя хорошая знакомая предложила...

Отличный стиль! Очень нравится, как звучит весь текст. Особенно эти фразы:
1. "Чем я интересуюсь? Хороший вопрос. Следующий вопрос! Маленькая шутка!" (вот только слово "маленькая" можно убрать, обычно просто говорят: "шутка!")
2. "Почему? Потому!" - очень разговорно, шутливо. (Иногда такой ответ может звучать грубо, но здесь с самого начала задан шутливый тон, поэтому так сказать вполне уместно.)
3. "Серьёзно - причины есть многие." Конечно, можно сказать по-другому: "есть много причин". Но на мой взгляд, в этой фразе есть определенный стиль. Звучит красиво, изысканно, и подчёркивается переход от шутливого тона к серьёзному.

Слово "итак" не совсем уместно. Лучше просто сказать "Но".

Concerning "Итак" vs. "Но", I have a question.

Let's say I wanted to express I was not surprised that my aquaintance quit Russian after three months, wouldn't "итак" somehow express this lack of surprise? Or is that irrelevant and would it simply depend on the intonation of "но"?

So, "итак" can be used to express something like, "Oh,well...." in the sense of "хотели, как лучше, получилось, как всегда" - we wanted like better, but it turned out like always?

In other words, can I use "итак" to be somewhat cynical about this event? I'm afraid that "но" will not express the desired element of cynicism in this context.

What does the phrase "вот и я сюда попал" translate to?

I'd translate it to mean something like the following:

"And I, too, have ended up here."

(To my mind it's kind of a parody of wanting to get somewhere in particular and ending up with a banal result. Except, without the pathos of disappointment, because - "Хотели как лучше, а получилось как всегда," - We wanted like better, but it turned out like always - is the general rule that we have long since stoically resigned ourselves to.)

Hence: "вот и я сюда попал"

(The idea is that one can laugh at one's own vanities. Of course, this is not a characteristic of all people.)
