Hi, everyone! I was wondering, what would be the best way to translate the term "think tank" into Russian? I've heard фабрика мысли used to describe it-- is this a fitting translation? Also, what's the best way to say "public policy center" in Russian?

Thanks!

I'd translate it like "Вместилище мысли" but possibly it's too pathetic...:)

Think tank if speaking about science - исследовательский (научный) центр
Public policy is "государственная политика" if I am not mistaken, so it would be "центр государственной политики", though I've never heard such phrase in Russian, so I think there should be another translation, but I cant help you 'cause it's pretty unclear to me what you are trying to say) Maybe it would be "Государственная Дума"

"Фабрика мысли" is OK, but people tend to say "мозговой центр" more often.

Public Policy Center would be something like "центр государственной политики".

"Фабрика мысли" is not OK yet, but it could be soon - if the standards of literary translation to Russian continue to decline.

"Центр публичной политики" - о государстве там нет ни слова.

I would love to remind that the working language of this community is English. It is OK to post or comment in Russian, but you are expected to provide an English translation.

we might simply not have such thing (and a word for it) as public policy center... %)
i also had some troubles translating the name of the university course I've taken in the States -- public policy
and failed

"Think tank" ~ "научный центр", "исследовательский центр", "научно-исследовательский центр", "аналитический центр", depending on the context.

Asking about Think Tank don't you mean album of Blur?

well, i've never heard of such b-side, but still, if you mean album title I'm not sure whether you should translate it. I mean everyone here uses original title and i guess you won't be understood if you will say the translated title.
The same with song titles etc.
