[identity profile] dzhozef-derfler.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] learn_russian
My friends like the Russian music I listen to, so I burn them copies of my CD's. What I'll do for the CD labels is make a two-sided label. On one side, I have the song names in Russian, and on the other side I'll put the song names in English. This works fine, of course, unless I can't figure out what in the world the word is. I have a song titles here, all by Zемфира. Would someone please translate these?
Итоги
Так и оставим
Жужа
Шкалят датчики
Синоптик
Маечки
Припевочка
After a while, I figured out повесица (повеситься), but these others don't make sense to me. I'd just like to hear from actual human beings instead of a dictionary for a couple of these...

First of all, you can see the lyrics of these songs here (http://www.pesnihi.com/z/zemfira/zemfira.html).
Note, that Zemfira's lyrics are pretty hard for understanding by a foreigner and at times by just about anyone :)
So, don't feel bad if the lyrics don't make too much sense to you.

Итоги - Totals, final results, in this context - "What I leave behind" or "In retrospect"
Так и оставим - Let's leave it at that
Жужа - apparently, a name (an odd one)
Шкалят датчики - The sensors go out of whack (out of scale, basically)
Синоптик - meteorologist or the weather forcast person
Маечки - diminutive from "майка", sleeveless T-shirt
Припевочка - from: девочка-припевочка, a pure and naive girl, slang.

Итоги - plural form for total.
Так и оставим - let's leave it like this.
Жужелица - carabus, жужа is a demotic or even slang form of the former word.
Датчики зашкаливают - sensors max out, шкалить is also a form of зашкаливать.
Синоптик - weather forecaster.
Маечки - plural and diminutive form for t-short.
Припевочка - a mixture of девочка and припев.

Итоги - Conclusion
Так и оставим - Let's leave it as is
Жужа - Zhuzha is a name, actually a Hungarian female name, very rare in Russia
Шкалят датчики - Meters (of any sort, this is a generic word) going out of whack, meaning something crazy is happening
Синоптик - meteorologist (generally, they are viewed rather sceptically)
Маечки - Little Tank tops (or can also look like wife-beater type tops...)
Припевочка - a kind of bubbly naive girl. Maybe, "Cutie-pie" could be an approximate analogue

Looks like Akela has missed his kill in the last line - it's not from припев (refrain,) it's from девочка-припевочка (very silly girl.)

heh
if u heard lirycs...
i think

1. Final
2. Zhuzha (not zuza, tenderly, its name)
3. Overload (surely, u can use датчики и прочую чушь forehead. Listen lyrics)
4. Meteo (simple meteo. No more)
5. Say, it was nice word before - Jersey. Maybe? Мачечки - это не t-shirts. 100%
6. I think u can use "refrain". i can't see anythihg closer. But... припевочка not equal refrain, To my pity. Sorry

Sorry for corrections
i am a little drunked %)

Возможно, я же не знаю контекста. Девочка-припевочка, наверное имелась в виду.

one more nice word for Синоптик: "Weatherman"

Zem's lyrics are VERY metaphorical, but always meaningful

Hungarian name Zsuzsa is really rare in Russia. However, once there was a street in Kolomenskoye (former suburb of Moscow, where the Czar had his summer residence in 17th century) with that name.

Yes, but their metaphorical level is always a hard thing even for natives :) Especially such, er, masterpieces like "Weatherman". Personally I don't know what the hell it is about :)

No, it's quite easy, the only confusing thing is that actual phrases are split between lines.

This is about a couple that believes (at least Zema's character does) that their souls are bond eternally and even death cannot separate them. So she thinks about what would happen if one of them kills another.
