Thank you everybody very much for your support! I really appreciate it!

In the previous post I forgot to mention one fact. Hardcore criminials (зеки) don't use MAT because they have their own slang (феня) which is probably more complex than MAT itself. Sometimes people who are not familiar with феня can hardly understand what those criminals are speaking about. The usage of MAT in criminal society is considered as an ignorance of their language and laws so criminals don't like when somebody uses MAT in their presence. But let us return to the original topic.

(x) — this mark means that the word as wel as its derivatives is banned from printing. The words without that mark may be used in gutter press but they are also intolerable in literary language.

Basic words in literal sense

All other words and expressions of MAT have these words as their root, although their meaning may have no connection with the basic words. Arranged in alphabectical order.

блядь (x) — hooker, street-walker, prostitute

гандОн (x) — (distorted condom) condom

говнО — excrements, shit

дрочИть — verb for masturbation, to jerk off; the original ancient meaning was «to pamper smb», дрочиться — «to fool around»

ебАть (x) — to fuck (about a man)

ебАться (x) с кем-либо — to have sex

жОпа — 1. ass, buttocks 2. asshole

залУпа (x) — head of penis (I don't know the medical term for this)

мандА (x) — (obsolete) vagina

мудАк — idiot; the original ancient meaning was «a man with big balls»

мУди (мУде) — (obsolete) testicles, balls

пиздА (x) — vagina

пИдор, педрИла (x) — (distorted педераст) gay, fagot

пидорАс (x) — (distorted педераст) 1. gay, fagot 2. idiot

срать — to defecate

ссать — to urinate

хер — a bit obsolete word which has the same meaning and usage as хуй, but хер is much less rude

хуй (x) — penis

целка (x) — hymen

Basic words in figurative sense

Кто бля последний за пивом? 2. exclamation that may mean depending on the situation: excitement, surprise, something very unpleasant: Бля! А ты как здесь оказался? or here: Блядь! Опять свет отключили!

гандОн (x) — bad man, rascal

говнО — poor thing, crap, something of low quality (about an item)

дрочИть — to perform some long, intensive, repeated action: to train smb, to use small device (which may lead to breakage) etc. В армии нас хорошо дрочили. or Хватить дрочить мой компьютер!

ебАть (x) — 1. to hit, to punch, to kick, to break, to crush, to destroy etc. note that this word refers to the process, not the result: Меня ебали два хулигана. 2. to concern: Не ебёт! — I don't fucking worry about this. 3. to know, used only in this phrase: А я ебу? — Why am I supposed to know?

ебАться (x) to work hard, to have difficulties with something: Я всю ночь ебался с этим заданием по математике, но так ничего и не смог решить.

жОпа — 1. dull suburbs, outskirts; the meaning is similar to this: Богом забытое место. 2. bad situations, problems: На экзамене была полная жопа. 3. the end of smth (in negative meaning): Телевизор сломался, ему настала жопа.

срать — to spoil, to do minor but unpleasant harm

ссать — to be afraid, to fear: Не ссы! — C'mon, don't be a coward!

хер — a bit obsolete word which has the same meaning and usage as хуй, but хер is much less rude

хуй (x) — 1. man 2. used to amplify the meaning of denial, negation or as a substitution to words «не», «нет», «ничего»: Хуй пришёл = Не пришёл (т.к. не хотел приходить). Хуй тебе! = Ничего тебе не дам.

Either you apply lj-cut to it (after the horizontal line) within next 10 minites, or... well, you've been warned already.

!!!next, (OMG) хер is as rude as хуй

Хер is not only much more acceptable, but is actually a euphemism for хуй.
Хер is what the corresponding letter (х) of the Russain alphabet used to be called.
So people were naming the first letter instead of the forbidden word.

Keep up the good work! :)

The primary meaning of г**дон is "a condom." You'd be surprised, but on the turn of 19/20 centuries this word has been used in print (though its second letter was О at that time) - for example, in the advertising of early French-made condoms which were introduced to Russian market at that time (though it was semi-legal, since the Russian Orthodox Church did not approve its use -- actually, still doesn't -- and ROC was the part of the Empire rule at that time.)

Г**дон and презерватив were two different words then, meaning two different types of condoms.

Did you know that old (1940s, the most probably) criminal song - "Once upon a time, in Rostov-on-Don" ("Это было в старину, да в Ростове-на-Дону...")? There are those lines:
Какой-то стрелочник, п**да,
Остановил все поезда
Сигналом, сигналом, б**дь, сигналом,
И вот шагаю я вперед,
А котелок по ж*пе бьёт,
По шпалам, по шпалам, б**дь, по шпалам.

(Some railway pointsman, BAD MAN,
stopped all trains
by a signal, by a signal, f***, by a signal,
And so I walk on and on,
and my cauldron [that hangs from the escaped criminal's belt behind his back] slaps my ass,
[I walk] the railroad track, the railroad track, f***, the railroad track.)

Do you think it'd be possible to add conjugation patterns to the verbs you listed? I only ask because at my current level I have no way of knowing/anticipating whether, for example, the ты form of ебать is ебишь, ебаешь, ебёшь, or even some else altogether different.

Залупа, I think is more like "foreskin" or something like that, not the "tip", head of the penis.

The tip of the penis is called the "glans penis" or just the "glans". Since the same erectile tissue forms the clitoris in a female, hers is called the "glans clitoris".

"манда" sounds a lot like monda, which is Spanish slang for the same.

You made the end-tag incorrectly ("/li-cut")

What are all figurative the uses of хрен? I'm not sure if it's MAT but I can't understand it used figuratively. Like "ни хрена себе" I think is an alternative to боже мой?

I really thank you for this, despite the heated objections from our Тов. Модератор. Some of my Russian LJ friends write coarsely in their journals and I have no way to translate.

From: [identity profile] schwarzer-tod.livejournal.com
Addendum: Does сука count as MAT? I encounter it frequently.

If блин means pancake like my dictionaries say it does, why do I see it often? And why are virtually none of these pictures (http://images.google.com/images?q=%D0%B1%D0%BB%D0%B8%D0%BD&num=100&hl=en&lr=&c2coff=1&safe=off&client=firefox&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&sa=N&tab=wi) of pancakes? I only ask here in case its real meaning is offensive.

Oh, what fun..

By the way, пизда is not vagina. It's cunt.

Also, the vocabulary described here is indeed obscene. But what you
also must know is that it can be very creatively used. And is used by creative types. But, yes, there is a fine line.

I myself use it profusely, as poor wolf_off, a reader of my journal, knows. And I don't think of it as eggregious, when used in proper circumstances.

An old joke on "бля" used anywhere in the sentence:

CIA academy, group of students aiming to be agents in Russia.
One of them asks the teacher: "In the phrase 'Мужики, кто последний за пивом?'[Guys, who's the last (in queue) after beer?], where should we put the undefinite article 'бля'?"

Correct me if I translated it wrong =)

P.S. Also remembered a story about Word macrovirus which inserted ", бля" before every punctuation mark =)
