my dictionary defines email in russian only as электонная почта. Is there a way in russian to use "email" as a verb as in the sentence "I emailed them my resume."?

I don't think so. If you're using this in an official document it's best to stick with Я отослал им моё резюмэ по электронной почте.

it's better to use "отправил", not "отослал".

In this case both моё and своё would work. Also, послал, отослал, отправил - ok.

By the way, in LiveJournal when you reply to a specific comment, you should use "Reply to this". Then that person will receive a notification and also it will be clear what you are replying to.

"свой" always refers back to the performer of the action. "Мой" is redundant in this case, but it is used in colloqial speech. The "correct" one is "свой" here.

I never had to think about that before :)
But now, when I do, it seems like when it refers to the subject it would be моё/твоё/его. When it refers to an object, you would normally use своё.
Мои дети любит меня vs Я люблю своих детей.
Его машина грязная vs Он помыл свою машину.

In Russian techie slang the word "email" is "мыло", and "to email" is therefore "мылить":

Я замылил им свое резюме.

Note that you should never use that in official writing, for which "я отослал им свое резюме по электронной почте" should be used.. The above is something you'd say in an IM conversation with your buddy, also equally versed in techie slang.

No, no connection. It went something like this:

емайл - емыл - емыло - мыло

The only connection is phonetic. If there were no such word as "мыло", the slang term would be different.

It's possible also to say "послал тебе письмо по электронке", it's informal too. But if to think about it I usually use "мыло". :)

there's also some slangish version емеля (again, it's phonetically variated e-mail, so it ressemble a russian tales' hero's name), but still it's not verbed, thus one says "я ему послал по емеле", or very hardly comprehensible "я ему заемелил".
but i think that one should be fluent in normative russian before using such words : )

The closest translation of "to email" I can think of is "послать email-ом": "Я послал им email-ом своё резюме". email is pronounced йе-мэйл or имэйл.
