Ok, a friend of mine just sent me an e-mail in Russian. the only problem is, he send it to me using the english alphabet, spelling the Russian words the way they sound. I'm a bit confused. HELP!

The way he transliterated the Russian words is somewhat uncoventional.
Anyway, the Cyrillic version would be:

YES! When I first saw it, I said "If it were in Russian, I'd understand it!" I got part of it, but I kept trying to pronounce the English letters the way you would in Russian. Confusing, I must say.

Don't think about them as english letters. Think about them as Latin letter, or german, or something.

Are you sure your friend was writing in Russian? I mean, it's Russian, but looks to me like this person is perhaps Ukrainian or Bulgarian or something and trying to write in Russian. Stuff like biti reminds me way too much of other Slavic languages. I don't know.
