When does one use как instead of one of the derivatives of какой? I.e.

Какая сегодня погода? could it also be said as
Как сегодня погода?

As well as так, такой.

Он так красивый as opposed to Он такой красивый.

Oh, and when does one use хоть as opposed to хотя?

And I must confess that I think I overuse "Ну и что" a little too much. It got stuck to me when I read "Ну и как идёт фильм?" For "Well, how was the movie?" and I've been using "Ну и что" ever since to express "Well,"

Is that correct? Am I a butcher of Russian? And I need help as to when to use даже. Thanks.

как сегодня погода is not correct strictly speaking, but it woudl be possible to say it in semi-joking manner.

Он так красивый is right out. either Он такой красивый or Он так красив.

Хоть and хотя are very different in meaning. Хоть most of the times means 'at least', 'minimal acceptable'.
Хотя means 'although', 'even though'

actually, there IS a situation where you can say Он так красивый, but the emphasis woudl be on так: Он так - красивый, а так - не красивый.

Как дела? (or Как погода?) ~ How are you? (or How's the weather?)
Как ~ how/in what manner, какой ~ what/which.

Так ~ thus/in that manner, такой ~ like this/such/so.

I think "ну" means "after all". But it would sound better if not to say (to say no to :-) "ну".

No, it'd mean "he is beautiful like that" (with this hairstyle, for example). But yes, in this case I'd sai it requires a dash, as dimon37 said above.

Here stress should be on красивый.

As for даже, all I can think of is pretty straightforward and nicely translates as EVEN (not as in "even like the Great Plains," but rather as in "even I can understand that" :)))))

apparently people are afraid of writing out explanations, so here goes:

какой/ая/ое/ие are adjectival forms used to ask or describe a noun. they could be translated as 'what kind...'. they are asking for a description. therefore, except for the examples mentioned above, какая сегодня погода? is the correct version. какой (here какая) must agree with the noun -- here погода.

как asks for an adverbial description. it means 'how' as in 'how is the action being done?'. so 'как сегодня погода?' is kindof correct, in the sense of 'how is the weather going today?', or in a conversational or substandard way.

такой is the same deal, just as an answer to a какой question or as an emphasizing word. it must agree in gender, number and case with what is being described.

так is used to modify adverbs, not adjectives, which is why 'он так красивый' isn't right. так is, however, used to modify short-form adjectives (красив/а, весел/а). hence: "он так красив". it answers a "как" question, or emphasizes an adverbial phrase.

it is, of course, more complicated than this, really, but these are kinda the basics. do you have a book or resource that can explain short-form adjectives to you? that would be good.
