Can someone please tell me what connotation usually goes with заведи? My translator says it means "bring", but how is it usually used in a normal setting, or if shouted out all by itself. (I am listening to a song where they keep shouting заведи! заведи! but I'm wondering if it has a different meaning or if it usually refers to something that people want to bring.) Thank you!

This word has a lot of meanings. It is imperative for the verb завести. It may mean:
1. To start or turn on an engine (in a car, for example). E.g., "завести машину".
2. To bring in someone or something. Used with babies (завести ребёнка), lovers (завести любовника), friends (завести друзей), pets (e.g., завести собаку) etc.
3. To drive someone to a remote or uncomfortable place. E.g., "гид завёл нас глубоко в джунгли" (the guide brought us deep into the jungle).
4. To turn on someone sexually. E.g., "ты меня заводишь" (you turn me on). This was probably the case with the song you mentioned.

"Common baby, light my fire..." (с)

She's wow! She has turned me on instantly!
Она вау! Она завела меня с пол-оборота!

Sorry, I did mean to write "come on, baby..." :)
I don't know why I had written the word "common"

It's a t.A.T.u. song.

Knowing t.A.T.u., I'm pretty sure it is, too.

With all due respect, I have never heard the expression you mention as Russian - "она вау" :)

Она просто... вау!

Well, you never know where you can hear a new expression. I use "вау" pretty often (not in every phrase, of course) and, sometime, describing a girl I liked. :) If I say "Она вау!", it means that the girl I talk about is just unbelievably... wow! ...no words could help. :)

Actually, you may be right and nobody says that besides me and some of my friends. I guess then I may call it some kind of expression elite uses ;). Or--simplier--the influence of the West... world conspiracy, booooo!

Btw, do you know how in English would be "Есть многое на свете, друг Горацио // Что и не снилось нашим мудрецам"?

Yeah, I guess now I have to perform a purifying human sacrifice to return Satan's support to me. Would you like to be a sacrifice? ;)

There are many things in the world, Horatio,
that aren't subject to electrification!

Seriously, does anyone like Shakespeare here? I personally don't, that's why I'm asking :)

Thank you! In Russian translation it sounds much better, though incorrect. More and more I see that translation distorts the original text a lot.

He-he, the translation you've mentioned was some kind of a translator's freewheelin' fantasy around original Shakespeare's tragedy. In Boris Pasternak's translation, for instance, those two lines were rendered much better --

Гораций, много в мире есть того,
Что вашей философии не снилось.

If it's not t.A.T.u., then who is it?

And a Maksi M song as well...

I found a MP3 linked to the site I got the lyrics at. And the MP3 was Заведи by Тату featuring Макси М. Well, there we have it. I hope this clears up some stuff. Now, time for me to go to work.
