Добрый день! I just joined this community.

Here's my introduction: I lived in Ukraine until I was about 9. Then my parents wanted to move to America. Five years later we're still here. My Russian got a lot worse. My pronounciation is fine. It's my spelling and grammar that bother me. I also got really slow in reading. And I don't want to have the vocabulary of a 3rd grader.

So I found this community and I hope I can improve my Russian.

Welcome to this community! My girlfriend is Ukrainian and she left when she was just 11, and now living in the UK. She speaks Russian all the time with her parents, and it's definitely fluent because she doesn't seem to stop for breath lol.

However, I've never seen her write very much Russian, although she had no problems with reading me a Russian translation of "Little Red Riding Hood".

Just grab a Russian copy of "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" and that'll get you back onto the Russian-reading trail. GOOD LUCK!

Yeah...[livejournal.com profile] squodge is right: "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" - but none of the further volumes, since their Russian translation SU... well, is not that good!

Welcome! Since I know less than you when it comes to Russian, I can't offer you wise and wonderful advice like those above me. I thought I'd welcome you anyway.
