Privet, I am new here and live in Baltimore, Maryland USA. i am originally from Chisinau (kishinev) Moldova but I don't speak Romanian or Moldovian, just Russian. Ive lived in America for 12 years and I am 15 right now.

I might be going to visit my grandmother in Moldova this summer, can anyone who speaks Moldovian or Romanian help me learn some "needed phrases" for example how to say "how much is that?" or anything that is needed in everyday life.

also, i would love to talk about Moldova with anyone who would like to share their experiences or such.

i visited back to moldova last summer for 2 weeks :)

and if anyone would like to talk through AIM in russian then id be glad to, except i can only type in russian with english letters.

I have a colleague from Moldova here, she says that you don`t need Romanian to ask "how much is that" in Moldova, Russian will do the job. But, she speak Romanian fluently, so if someone informed you that you really need some Moldovian, let me know which phrases do you need.

I'm taking Russian, finishing my second semester, and I'd like someone to help me practice. :) Unfortunately I don't know any Romanian or Moldavian... I thought Moldavian was simply a dialect of Romanian. Moldavian, like Romanian, would be a Romance and not a Slavic language, right?

If I remember, there was a russian community there... I never had a chance to visit for that reason, but many times my family and I stopped for something or other (such as gas) on our way through.
