quick question
Mar. 30th, 2004 07:17 pmi'm a high school student in a midwest suburban city, and i have an itch to learn russian, but predictably, none of the schools offer it, and neither do any of the universities. learning online helps, but i really need a teacher to keep me focused. if someone's willing to have an email correspondence and transmit audio files, that'd be great, but for face-to-face teaching, are there other options?

Date: 2004-03-30 06:40 pm (UTC)I'm from the western suburbs of Chicago, originally, and had to trek all the way out here to the University of Iowa to learn Russian.
The Universities of Illinois at Chicago and at Urbana-Champaign both offer it, but neither of their undergraduate programs are as extensive as the one offered here at Iowa.

Any questions you have about the program here, or any I've looked into around the Midwest, feel free to ask.

do U of IL and/or Urbana have summer programs for HS students, and if so, how much are they?
and how did Iowa come to have such a good program anyway? ;P

Go for it. It's an important country and an important language and it's going to stay important!
