Hi, I'm a new russian student. I was trying to put the yabert keyboard setup on my computer today and succeeded. I was wondering though, how do I put the stress mark on vowels this way?

stress marks aren't actually written. I think.

My prof told me that stress marks are only used when teaching Russian to non-native speakers.

or in books for children learning to read.
Stress mark is not used in common typesetting, it is only polygraphic sign.
If we need to mark a stress in informal communication as e-mailing, chat etc. (e.g. in case of words of the same spelling) we use upper case of vovel: зАмок, замОк.
In some cases <'> sign is used instead, placed right after stressed vowel. But this way is not so popular.

You can put the stress mark in Microsoft Word documents with the help of this simple program (MS Word macros):

Of course, it works only in MS Word :) If you copy and paste this text into any text editor - you'll get apostrophe (or any other symbol) in the middle of the word :)

Yes, there are no stress marks in normal Cyrillic fonts. You may try to find some more sophisticated fonts (I don't personally know any, though) or just make the stressed vowel capital or bold.
