I'm going to be honest.

One of the Russian professors at my school teaches her students about curse words during their second year. When asked why she doesn't teach about curse words earlier, she explained that the first year students who learned them always made idiots of themselves, using them too much and in socially inappropriate contexts. As someone fluent in Russian, she was embarrassed for them. She also didn't want her students to give a bad impression of her.

Russian curse words are much stronger than their English counterparts. They're not interchangeable. If I saw you walking down the street with "fuck you" or its equivalent on your shoulder, I would think you were just like the first year students that the professor talked about - trying to be cool but making a fool of yourself in the process by showing off your ignorance of Russian and Russian culture.

its just for fun,and i guess i could of made it any other language but im very fond of russian.
sorry if i "offend" the culture in some way.

I mean,if a russian girl had va te faire foutre written onher shoulder or something i would find it amusing ,not insulting.

I just thought I should tell you how it might appear to others. Tattoos are still difficult to remove - you want to know what you're getting into before you get one.

That's what I've found on one of the Russian news sites. It's in Russian, sorry. But the essense is as follows: in the English language many vulgar words have ceased to being such. Thay are now considered to be just "slang". In the Russian language they are still obscene. frankly speking, I don't understand why Russian vulgar words are taught to foreigners in Russian language classes. I'm Russian and still I don't know (and don't want to know) most of such words. They may be good for low class people but not for us. Disagree?

Кто знаем, быть может, вся эта история со словами-табу является лишь уловкой для того, чтобы сделать рекламу новому словарю и увеличить продажи.

Just want to add one thing.
In Russia, tattoos with words in russian (especially the blue ones), are usually associated with criminals, cause tattoos are often used to express the position in the criminal hierarchy in jails, etc. Obscene words in tattoos could be even more misapprehended - it is almost always abusive for a russian to bear such a tattoo.
So, be careful with words :)
