Words for e-mail:

электронная почта
почта
е-мейл
и-мейл

I'm told that the last two are only said, they are usually written "e-mail" and pronounced as either je-mejl or i-mejl. They can also be written мейл. Some people say/write почта (mail) on its own, without saying that it is "electronic." Any others?

Verbs:
посылать/послать (to send, dispatch, mail)
писать/написать (to write)

(Большое спасибо "вуру" и "501 Русские Глаголы"!)

very popular slang for e-mail is мыло, which means 'soap': modern slang often goes by purely phonetic associations, like Аська (a girl's pet name) for ICQ or something as silly as "банщица" (female bath-house attendant) for 'banshee' (in Warcraft 3).

I've heard je-mejl very rarely as a jocular mannerism. I-mejl is the usual pronunciation.

more verbs:
проверять/проверить почту (to check one's email)
прикреплять/прикрепить (to attach)
пересылать/переслать (to forward)

and it's "501 [пятьсот одному] русскому глаголу". you use the dative even with titles inside commas, but only when you don't name the actual object that has the title, so it would be большое спасибо книжке "501 [пятьсот один] русский глагол". all numerals ending in 1 are followed by the singular.

Also we say мыло (meas "soap" but sounds similar to mail :) and the corresponding verb is мылить/намылить :) But I'm afraid it's used between internauts (is there such word?-).

ps: what is "вур" ("вуру")?

I call this word - электронка or simply почта.
I think one these words will became norm for word email.
Because any other are very bad for russian language.
And мыло (soap) it's only joke..

:) Strange, I never heard anyone call it "электронка". It's too long =)

And actually "мыло" isn't only a joke. Around me it's used a lot as a normal world :) I would rather say "намыль мне это" or "отправь мне по мылу", than "отправь по электронной почте" или "отправь по имейлу" :)
