Well, I realize this is offtopic.
But I believe it's not a question difficult to answer. I respect the rules, but...
This question was from an LJ newcomer, who sincerely seeks friends willing to discuss literary issues.
I'm not a member in other English-language communities. So why not?

What's our policy on off-topic posts?

Do we just warn the person, or do we warn the person and delete the post?

We warn the person, delete the post, ban the person, nuke their IP address, complain to the Abuse Team, and delete the community journal for 24 hours as a warning for everybody.

But just this one time, let's not.
After all, a community's first offtopic post is a milestone.

I moderate classiclit, which is supposed to be about classic literature but more modern books are OK, if they're posted about in moderation.
