I'm Megan. I just finished up taking first year russian in college (luckily, I just learned verbal aspect so I can follow whats going on in some posts pretty well). I can't continue taking Russian because of scheduling, but I'd like to keep improving my russian skills. So hopefully being part of this community might help me out :)
I don't have any way of typing in Russian. I don't know much about computers, is there a cheap way to put russian on my keyboard??? Or is there a good way to phonetically spell Russian words? Preevet??? that seems weird. I dunno....

Date: 2003-05-13 01:25 pm (UTC)To set up first variant:
1.Start -> settings -> control panel -> keyboard -> language -> add
2. Choose Russian language.
3. Choose all cyrillic codings.
4. Choose keys you prefer to use to switch between languages: ctrl+shift or left alt + shift.
Sometimes, Windows ask for OS CD to install language, or you have to do some supplementary steps, like going to the "regional settings" on your control panel and add language from there first. Let me know if you will need help with it.
Here you can find russian-english keyboard compliance:
http://www.yandex.ru/keyboard_qwerty.html
For the second variant you have to instal special program, for example this one: http://softnew.ru/list.phtml?id=2954 - click on "Закачать программу", what mean "download software". It is freeware and has both russian and english interface.
BTW, if you need more help - write me, I'll give you my phone #.
