What are the Russian equivalents for some LJ lingo - e.g. the word for LJ itself, entries, comments, FAQs, etc? How much is transliterated vs translated?

Almost everything is transliterated, something with Russian endings..
I (as well as my friends) call LJ both ЛЖ (элжэ) and ЖЖ (жэжэ, живой журнал).

FAQ - фак :) (though it sounds as a curse word..) or ЧаВо (ЧАсто Задаваемые ВОпросы)
memories - мемориз
community - коммьюнити
friends - френды
userpic - юзерпик
We (my friends and me, I can't tell for the others) don't use the word entries, I call them записи or пост(ы) (post(s)) or мессага (мессаги) (messages)

Um, I've never once seen "ЛЖ", anywhere...

ЧаВО for FAQ, by the way, is really witty because it mimicks the rustic dialect pronounciation of "чего?", a colloquial form in its turn of "что?" - "what?"

LJ = ЖЖ, for Живой Журнал.

In some cases translations coexist with transliterations, the latter being strictly LJ-slang and frowned at by some people. Thus "entry" can be запись or пост, LJ friends are друзья with some people and френды with others. Comments are комментарии (regular Russian form of the word) or комменты (slang). The Russian LJ interface sticks to the conservative versions, while the slang prevails in the actual communication.
