diminutive suffixes
Mar. 10th, 2003 10:43 pmHow many diminutive suffixes are there in Russian, and how do they work? Google keeps spitting back a bunch of irrelevant and unhelpful links. :/
Is there a "hierarchy" of sorts?

Date: 2003-03-10 11:55 pm (UTC)Um, sorry. It's just one of the funnier little things (вещичек) Yandex spat back at me when I tried to do the search in Russian.
I'm afraid there are way too many of those suffixes, and there is none that would go with every little word (словечко)... Some modify the preceding little consonant (согласненькую). And some are so kitschy I'd have them banned. :)
There must be a little list (списочек) somewhere on the little web (в паутинушке). If I and other Russians here just start pooling all the ones we can think of, it's going to get pretty confusing in no little time (быстренько). Or should we give it a little try (попыточка)?
Anyway, you're now a little admin (админочка) of this little community (сообществишко).
Ugh.
Really, I believe my language would lose nothing, or very little, if dimunitive suffixes were to suddenly disappear from it.
But that's just me... снобик, снобишко, снобёночек. =|:o)
