Hello everyone,

I've been trying to look for the word for confidence in russian (I don't currently own a physical copy of a russian/english dictionary)

I know the word for pride and other words surrounding it but not the actual word. Is there not a word exactly for confidence?

I would tranlate it always as уверенность.

you have to believe in yourself (= be self-confident)

self-confidence = самоуверенность, adj самоуверенный
that's where they meet with believing

other meanings of confidence include вера, доверие = trust (in people etc)

and cекретность секретный as in confidentially, secretly \\confidence must be kept = должна соблюдаться конфиденциальность / секретность

Nope, "самоуверенность" means "overconfidence" or "bluster", with a connotation of imminent failure due to it. "Self-confidence" would be "уверенность в себе". Crazy, yes, but that's Russian for'ya.
