I have a question to native speakers about Dmitriy Medvedevs pronounciation.
I was waching pervyj kanal last night, and when Medvedev spoke at the concert, it seemed to me like his ponounciation was different from before. Some kind of "street" pronounciation, he sounded like he was less educated than the vedushchie, which he obviously is'nt. Why is he speaking like that? Or is it just my imagination? I can't describe it really, but it is something with the vowels at the end of the words, something with ending every word with the mouth open... Do you understand what i mean?

Actually I cannot say that the president's pronunciation was worse than presenters. Probably the presenters were speaking slowly a bit but that was the only difference for my opinion :-)
The concert was great :-)

I feel the same :-) The songs are well-known in Russia. But of course they are not top songs now. It was pleasant to listen to them in new way of the same melodies. And I like very much the performance with drums at the beginning of the concert. :-)

there is a suggestion in a comment to this speech that he was a little bit drunk :)
I think the reason is that he was speaking to the crowd. He was trying to be closer to the public, that's why he used this intonation "svoy paren'".

Actually I think it would be strange a bit to speak from that stage with a stone official face and voice. But I cannot say that his speech was incorrect from the point of view of a clearness of Russian pronunciation :-)

well Urgant wasn't speaking "with a stone official face and voice".
but his intonation was the one of a well-educated man :)

Actually Urgant could have learned his part of the speech better. :-) I got the impression that he changed somebody in that role and he had not prepared himself well.
:-)))))))

I believe he just wanted to sound a bit informal, to emphasize, that he belonged to the crowd, that he was not an official, but an ordinary person like any other.
But if I didn't listen to the speech too attentively, I wouldn't notice anything.
You have a good ear! :)

Phonetically it is correct, but his speach seems ill-prepared. In general, I think that Medvedev is a poor speaker.

Eduard Limonov's impression of this speech:
"Как провинциальный конферансье-простак выскочил на эстраду (президент!) Медведев, и был похож при этом на прокремлевского комсомольца Якеменко или Мищенко, а не на президента ядерной державы".

Why should you think his entire speach incorrect, I wonder. Do you always pronounce all the sounds with the same exactness? Rhythmic division is a bit strange, I do agree, but it's a (let's call it this way) stadium speech, not an official one, don't you think so?

I simply didn't watch the show, that's why I didn't know how many times he spoke.
It's easy to get lost in countless speeches by mr. Medvedev. :)

I agree with jujubo, he still spoke like a well-educated man, but, shall we say, the protocol was different :-) You can't speak to a crowd at a concert enunciating with a stone face as if it's a diplomatic do. It was in fact a very clever thing to do it this way.

I also had this impression he was slightly tipsy, but then again, he could be plain exhausted.

"И я уверен, что этот праздник - уникальный праздник - сплотит нас еще больше." T's all good. That was special poetry emphasis. With good pronounciation.
"Победы" at the end sounds good too. May be with a little personal defect of enunciation.
I think he has learned the text of speech written by special writers, and they cann't do mistakes in the speech. The text was correct too.

i understand you, but i think the sound was good. Many professional presenters on russian TV (today) speak much worse.

I watched the video and I do not hear any "low" pronunciation.

Some vowels are unusual but it looks as if he is just trying to speak louder.

Yes, he seems to be a little boozy, and also he spoke louder that he uses to, almost shouting (maybe, the monitors were too quiet?)
