Hi there,

This question is not appropriate for this forum, but maybe someone can help me because I don't know where else to look.

When I was Kazan, I had a traditional tatar treat. It looked like a little pastry cake filled with rice and I think pieces of fruit. Does anyone know what this is called? And if so, where I can get the recipe?

May be it was gubadia - national Tatar pie?:)

Could it have been a sweet version of gubadia? I did a Google image search of "gubadia" and some of the results look like your mystery pastry.

Here Gubadia, only bigger and with meat. but there are a variety of Gubadia with fruit and smaller size. I'm sure this is what you are looking for.

This is gubadia - my best friends are tatars. there are different types. sweet ones, .. actualy, I never saw meet ons but who knows..Did you like Kazan? I adore this city!
