Could anyone tell me how to say second on the right/left. Take the second left.

Also if you are on a road and you want to say that something is after the traffic lights could you use за as in beyond the traffic lights?

"beyond the traffic lights" is exactly how this meaning is usually used :)

I think in this case correct is the preposition "на". "Поверните на втором повороте налево/направо"

When answering "direction" questions, people normally use simplier speech.
- Как пройти....?
- Идите прямо. Второй поворот налево. OR Через квартал - налево. Or something else like this.

don't mess it with "за перекрёстком", as drivers may get the directions literally

За светофором or после светофора. No big difference, but за is probably right after the lights, and после can be in a mile, as long as there are no other landmarks to mention.

also exists на светофоре = на перекрестке, for example to indicate that smb.should turn left after the traffic ligths = на светофоре поверните налево = на перекрестке поверните налево
