What do Russians call cereal ... like Corn Flakes?

For instance, how would they say, "I ate cereal for breakfast."

Thanks!

Я ела сухой завтрак(when it is not corn flakes) утром/Я ела кукурузные хлопья с молоком на завтрак.

I can't say for all Russians, that's how I translate it anyway. The thing is that Corn Flakes and any other cold cereal was not common in Russia until very recently so there is no an uniform translation.

Хлопья. A direct copy "корнфлекс" is also in use.

«Что Вы хотите на завтрак? Хлопья подойдут?».
We eat cereal by itself very seldom. Usually with dried fruits and it's called «мюсли» (muesli).

"Корнфлекс" became actually a generic term or a synonym for cereals. Of course, a Swiss-German word Müsli (not exactly cereals, I know) is also used, but in Your example, I would simply use "хлопья".

Muesli and cornflakes are two very different things. Corn flakes with dried fruit are not muesli, they are corn flakes with dried fruit.

I even heard some people using the word "сереалы" (due to the lack of proper counterpart).

Please, find the words «corn» or «flakes» in my comment. I told about cereal.
And cereal with dried fruits (or nuts) is muesli (http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%9C%D1%8E%D1%81%D0%BB%D0%B8).
