I think you'll find this simple. The event took place in the English class so I'll tell the joke in reverse to give it (hopefully) some educational value.

One of the students has just finished telling us about the ice-cream they had made during their labo. She concludes:
"The ice-cream was fine except that it tasted of monkey."
It took me a while to realize what did monkeys have to do with ice-cream...

Bingo. I wonder, however, what gave the ice-cream the taste of mon— er, semolina. But I suppose it could be starch, which is added to improve texture, though she didn't mention it.
