I'm attempting to translate "painting" directly and can't seem to come up with a good word for it as a noun. I'm getting: искусство, краски, etc. Is there a word that conveys actual paintings?

Well, it's a section on a website where my paintings are. So far I have "дизайн", "о мне"...which would fit better, рисунки?

Живопись refers to more professional activity, and mostly to classic technique with canvas, brushes and oil paints.

Kартина sounds like "picture" to me. It is particular pieces, so either "полотно" or "холст"?

"Полотно" and "холст" (literally "linen","canvas")аre synonyms for "picture".

"Полотно" and "холст" are synonyms for "picture" only if it is really linen or canvas. One can not say "холст" about a picture on paper.

Saying "my work" or "gallery" for my paintings will be tough when I also have drawings and graphic design sections.

Depending on your style.

I'd go as this:

-If I make simple drawings with whatever, pen, pastel, chalk, etc, I'd say "мои рисунки"
-If I am a professional artist and I make large and serious drawings, I'd say "мои картины"

I would not use "мои полотна", however it's right, it takes a while to understand what you mean.

And btw, "картина" or "рисунок" are *never* used to describe a photograph, unlike in English.

I'm not sure I got what exactly does not seem professional to you. But the screenshot in the comments above looks ok. If I were a visitor, by "живопись" I would assume to find a classical techniques, like oil&stuff, and by "рисунки" - less pro/less classical stuff, like maybe computer graphics.

Here's a test for you: type "рисунки" and "живопись" in Google image search, you'll see exactly what we mean by them.

BTW, рисунки is plural. Don't you want to write "drawings" in English in plural too?

If you do computerized art, you may also consider графика.
